Changes in Free-Living and Particle-Associated Bacterial Communities Depending on the Growth Phases of Marine Green Algae, Tetraselmis suecica

چکیده

Bacteria are remarkably associated with the growth of green algae Tetraselmis which used as a feed source in aquaculture, but Tetraselmis-associated bacterial community is characterized insufficiently. Here, first step towards characterization bacteria, we investigated composition free-living (FLB) and particle-associated (PAB) bacteria each phase (lag, exponential, stationary, death) suecica P039 culture using pyrosequencing. The percentage shared operational taxonomic units (OTUs) between FLB PAB communities was substantially high (≥92.4%), their compositions were significantly (p = 0.05) different from other. more variable than depending on T. suecica. In community, proportions Marinobacter Flavobacteriaceae considerably varied accordance cell number suecica, there no clear variation composition. This suggests that may have stronger association algal community. Interestingly, irrespective phase, Roseobacter clade genus Muricauda predominant both communities, indicating positively affect they potentially capable enhancing growth.

Control of Vibrio spp. in Shrimp Hatcheries Using the Green Algae Tetraselmis suecica

The Vibrio spp. are the most common and harmful shrimp pathogenic bacteria causing serious diseases of larval and postlarval stages in the hatchery. The Vibrio inhibitory activity of green algae Tetraselmis suecica has been reported in vitro (Austin and Day 1990).In these experiments, the inhibitory activity was assessed in vivo in a commercial shrimp hatchery of the white prawn Fenneropenaeus ...

Green synthesis of gold nanoparticles by the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica.

The application of green-synthesis principles is one of the most impressive research fields for the production of nanoparticles. Different kinds of biological systems have been used for this purpose. In the present study, AuNPs (gold nanoparticles) were prepared within a short time period using a fresh cell extract of the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica as a reducing agent of HAuCl4 (chlor...

Cadmium removal by living cells of the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica.

Cadmium removal by living cells of the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica was tested in cultures exposed to different cadmium concentrations (0.6, 3, 6, 15, 30 and 45 mg/l). The EC50 for growth was 7.9 mg Cd/l after six days of exposure. The cadmium removed was proportional to the concentration of this metal in the medium and it was dependent on the time of exposure; cultures with higher cadm...

Effect of oil and dispersant on growth and chlorophyll a content of the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica.

Low hydrocarbon concentrations stimulated the growth of Tetraselmis suecica, whereas higher concentrations (200 ppm) inhibited growth. The content of chlorophyll a in this microalga was affected in a similar way. Crude oil had the most marked effects. Dispersant SEAKLIN-101-NT and mixtures of oil and SEAKLIN-101-NT did not show selective toxicity for the microalga, although inhibitory effects c...

Molecular characterization of epiphytic bacterial communities on charophycean green algae

Epiphytic bacterial communities within the sheath material of three filamentous green algae, Desmidium grevillii, Hyalotheca dissiliens, and Spondylosium pulchrum (class Charophyceae, order Zygnematales), collected from a Sphagnum bog were characterized by PCR amplification, cloning, and sequencing of 16S ribosomal DNA. A total of 20 partial sequences and nine different sequence types were obta...
